Hester Briarhollow has gathered the last of the pumpkin babies, safely tucked into the lace apron she holds before her. Copper curls frame her watchful face beneath a towering black hat threaded with moss, autumn leaves, and tiny bells. A pocket watch and small bottle hang at her side, as if she has somewhere important to be before the last leaf falls.
Her striped sleeves, patterned skirt, and hand-finished autumn details make Hester a character-rich original sculpture. Michele Lynch hand-sculpts and paints her face and hands, then assembles her with carefully layered textiles, fibers, and found-object details. Each piece is made by hand and is one of a kind, created for The Thorn Garden.
